Research & Polling — Ace Strategies and DemosAU

Evidence for strategy, not just headlines.

Research & Polling

A new standard for research in Australia

Ace Strategies and DemosAU deliver comprehensive research solutions combining specialist local knowledge with high-level polling expertise. DemosAU has emerged as a top-tier Australian polling organisation, with a track record of accuracy across state and federal elections, and through our strategic partnership that capability is available to corporate, government and campaign clients as a unified, end-to-end service.

Where our other services act on the environment, this one measures it. Research is what turns the rest of our counsel from judgement into evidence.

What our research and polling service covers

Political and issue polling

Voting intention and issue polling across every Australian state and federally — the same published program whose results appear in our news and polling archive.

MRP modelling and seat-level projection

Multilevel regression and post-stratification models pooling samples of 6,928 to 9,343 respondents, producing a modelled outcome for each of the 150 House of Representatives electorates.

Message testing

Before you commit to a message, test it. We measure how your arguments land with the audiences that matter, by segment, by region and by frame, so your communications and government relations strategies are built on measured opinion.

Conversational AI research

AI-moderated qualitative research at quantitative scale — understanding not just what people think but why, in their own words.

Custom and confidential research

Not everything we measure is published. Private issue polling, community sentiment studies and stakeholder research inform client strategy across our engagement and campaign work.

Leading with innovation

We utilise advanced methodologies, including conversational AI research and MRP (Multilevel Regression and Poststratification) modelling for precise demographic analysis.

Why the numbers can be trusted

DemosAU is a member of the Australian Polling Council and the Research Society. Every wave is published with its fieldwork dates, sample size and weighting on the record, where accuracy can be checked against results. The full method — sample construction, weighting, effective sample size, undecided handling and two-party preferred — is set out in our published polling methodology.

What a rendered poll looks like

The Intelligence Unit publishes the firm's polling as interactive data stories, not slide decks. The most recent is The Third Corner, every Victorian state poll from seven houses read against the 28 November election. Before it came the Capital Brief/DemosAU federal poll of July 2026 — One Nation leads the federal primary vote at 29% — alongside The Second Force, on One Nation's rise in South Australia, and the three-part One Nation series. Every published report is in the polling archive.

Proof

Our July 2026 federal poll of 2,694 Australians and our 9,343-respondent MRP mega-poll are on the public record. Raw sample sizes in the published archive range from 931 to 2,694 for single-wave polls and from 6,928 to 9,343 for the MRP models.

Common questions

Who is DemosAU?
DemosAU is an Australian research and polling firm and Ace Strategies' strategic research partner. Ace brings strategic application; DemosAU brings the field and modelling capability. DemosAU is a member of the Australian Polling Council and the Research Society.
Can we commission private polling?
Yes. Confidential political, issue and market research is a core part of the service, and not everything we measure is published.
What is MRP polling?
Multilevel regression and post-stratification: a modelling technique that combines a large-sample survey with demographic data to estimate outcomes for small geographies, such as individual electorates, that a conventional poll cannot resolve. MRP models report no effective sample size, because the estimate for any seat draws on the whole model rather than on respondents in that seat.
How much does a poll cost?
It depends on sample, geography and method — a single-question omnibus and a full MRP model are different undertakings. Tell us the decision you need to make and we will scope the research that answers it.
